QUESTIONS ON PAINT PROTECTION FILM
Yes. Pressure washers can be used on paint protection films, provided the film has completely dried after installation (typically 48 hours). However, we recommend you make sure the high-pressure water is not pointed directly at the edges of the film.
Your paint is safe. Most factory paint jobs are properly cured and prepared. It is extremely rare to have any issues with paint damage and even rarer that paintwork is damaged when removing the PPF.
PPF care Instructions:
• After film installation, wait one week before washing or waxing your vehicle. This will help ensure the proper adhesion build of the film.
• Use waxes that do NOT contain abrasive polishes, dyes or rubbing compounds.
• After waxing your car, remove any wax build-up along film edges with a lint-free cloth.
PPF can be professionally installed on any areas of your car. Given its industry applications (protection against scratches, stains, chips, bird droppings and other damaging elements), vehicle owners focus on having their PPF applied on the most areas of their vehicles under most impact. You can custom-select the areas to protect your hood, front bumper, mirror backs, door edges, door handle cups, roofs, trunks etc.
We measure the areas of your car on which the PPF will be installed. After that, a plotter is used to cut the material to the established sizes. No piece of PPF is cut directly on the vehicle’s paintjob, so there is absolutely no risk to damage it. Next, we do some short preparations, cleaning the vehicle’s surface with special detergents, so that nothing remains between the paint and the films upon heir application. Finally, we install the PPF (which has an adhesive) using and alcohol based solution.
QUESTIONS ON VINYL WRAPPING
We can wrap vehicles of any dimension.
No. On the contrary, it will add a mild protection to your paint-job. Vehicle wraps protect paint against UV light, small stone chips and minor scratches. When the time will come to remove the vinyl, the paint will be in the same condition it as before it was covered.
Yes, it helps if you do. All vehicles have to be free of mud, dust, pollen and other agents that should not be underneath the wrapping material. We will wash your vehicle too, with special detergents, because it has to be exquisitely clean before the installation process.
Hand washing is the best option. We recommend avoiding high-pressure washes and to never use an ice-scraper. Use a soft broom and rear defroster for sweeping off windows; these will cause no damage to your window graphics.
Yes. The wrap is applied to the vehicle by heat and pressure-sensitive adhesives that can be reactivated and removed by our professionals. The removal process is short and it does not damage the vehicle.
A wrap can stay between 4 to 6 years on the vehicle depending on conditions, care and overall treatment. At Wraps & PPF, we use the best products available in the industry. Our vinyls have 5 – 6 years manufacturer warrantees while our solvent inks have a range of 3 – 7 years. We also use lamination as a protective film against abrasive cleaning, minor scratches and ordinary use.
The length of the process depends on the following factors:
• The development of the vehicle graphics design concept. When you already have a turnkey concept, it usually means less development time; but if you do need more of our input or even to provide you with a graphics design, it will add time on the production schedule.
• The complexity and number of the curves on the car. That is, of course, the curves you would like us to wrap. The more complex they are, the longer it takes to wrap the sinuous area with the material.
• The dimensions of the vehicle. It is only logical to assume, that the bigger the car, the wider the areas to wrap, hence the longer the wrapping process takes.
Other than the factors we just mentioned, after we are finished with the graphic stage, we enter production. This takes a few days. We print the materials and let them dry. The next steps are lamination, followed but cutting. The final stage is installation, which takes between 1 – 3 days depending on graphic size, vehicle type and, of course, scheduling.
QUESTIONS ON CERAMIC COATING
If you investigate the topic, you will stumble on ceramic coating DIY (Do it Yourself) kits. So, the short answer is – yes, you can try applying ceramic coating on your own. Which begs another logical question. What’s the difference between professionally applied ceramic coatings and DIY kits? Here is the answer – for your convenience, we broke it into separate points:
• Compared to professional ceramic coatings, DIY kits offer only a fraction of the performance. The former lasts much longer and offers a considerably higher level of protection.
• You might get lucky while buying a DIY kit. However, there are many sellers on the marketing offering bogus products, or intentionally exaggerating the product’s quality in order to justify the price.
• When getting your car coated by professionals you get the full package in terms of experience, expertise, equipment and materials. Not only you spare yourself the time, efforts and impossible to avoid newbie mistakes, you will get the high quality you deserve guaranteed by licensed specialists. Yes, you have to be licensed in order to offer professional ceramic coating services, because it’s a science, with lots of variables, human labor and technical procedures involved.
• The price! Of course, this is the only reason car owners even ask this question. We are going to be straight with you. Professional ceramic coating services are more expensive that DIY kits, by far. The decision is yours; our job is to explain the differences and to deliver premium quality results.
This depends on the type of coating, how well it is maintained and the environment in which the car is stored and driven. For example, coatings like Ceramic Pro form a very strong bond with the vehicle’s paint that, given a good maintenance, can last for a number of years on the car.
Aggressive car washing or automatic car washes will shorten the lifespan of the protective layer. We recommend that you wash your vehicle only with microfiber cloths.
In essence, avoid any object or process with abrasive properties coming into contact with your car’s surface. Also, failing to wash the vehicle on a regular basis can too reduce the performance and durability of the coating.
We recommend that every 12 months the vehicle is thoroughly decontaminated by removing any road debris and industrial fallout deposits that may have accumulated.
First, we prepare the paintwork of your car by decontaminating it, making sure it’s free of dust, mud, and other materials that should note be between the paintjob and the coating layer. After that, we apply the ceramic coating (which comes in the form of a special liquid) on the exterior surfaces of the paint of your vehicle.
